Celebrating the Presence of Jesus in a Pandemic!

Great is His faithfulness;
His mercies begin afresh each morning.
I say to myself, β€œThe Lord is my inheritance.
Therefore, I will hope in him!”
— Lam 3:23-24

Let me tell you a little about Lauren. She is a graduate of our Hobby Faith Based Dorm and lives in Dallas.

Lauren has been home 8 years. Her story is one of transformation from pain and rejection to healing and joy. She beautifully shares her journey on our Reentry Relationship and Finance DVD's.

Check out Lauren and other incredible stories in our Reentry studies >.

We plant and Jesus produces an abundance.

We plant and Jesus produces an abundance.

She is one of our volunteer teachers for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice STRIVE program at Mountain View. STRIVE prepares women with 90 days left on their sentence for the outside world. Seeing and hearing from transformed women like Lauren brings hope and validity to the program. Lauren knew there is a need for clothing and toiletries for women upon release. She posted the need on Facebook and started picking up clothes, washing them and sorting them. Her friend Rachel is on staff at Gateway Church and once word got out this project exploded. Lauren has six pickup points in Dallas. Our former Regional Warden Ms. Nelson is the director of STRIVE. She has stood with Discipleship Unlimited for many years and been an advocate to offer new beginnings and to see lives changed. Now it is time for us to give back. Our Alumni love passing on the joy!

Morning of prayer, pastries, and gratitude!

Morning of prayer, pastries, and gratitude!

This week we went to the prison to pray and bring refreshments for our Correctional Officers. They work long hours where social distancing is not possible. I recently talked with one of my officer friends who is working from 4:30 a.m. to 4:30 P.M. Jen is physically and emotionally exhausted. But she has one of our Faith Dorm ladies assigned to work with her. As Laura works alongside my friend, she brings her scripture. Laura ministers to the youthful offenders and others as she does her job. Together they are energized and filled with joy. An officer and an offender assigned to work together, a strong presence for Jesus.

I love how Chaplain Tuttle shares her journey during this time.
My ministry is mutating daily. No services, no volunteers--ministry of MYSTERY AND PRESENCE. Drawing from Discipleship that mutates into being the hands and feet of Jesus.

As a staff and volunteer team we have interrupted our regular schedule to mutate into new ways of being the hands and feet of Jesus.

Thank you for your prayers, encouragement and support!
